11:45 AM - The Story of Stuff is one of the most widely viewed
environmental-themed short films of all time. This 20-minute, fast-paced,
fact-filled look at the underside of production, consumption, and waste will
teach you something, make you laugh, and it just may change the way you look
at all your stuff. Following the films, there will be a visual awareness

Sunday 9AM-Noon Fields Pond Audubon Center is aligning with 350.org and the
10:10 campaign in a day to celebrate climate solutions. For our local work
party, we’ll focus on cleaning up the grounds of the nature center with
trail work and habitat restoration. Then, for the party portion, we’ll share
a potluck lunch. Sunday, October 10, 9 a.m. – noon Cost: Free. It’s a
potluck, please call 989-2591 and let us know you’re coming.

On October 10, the public is invited at no charge to join the global
10.10.10 celebration at 10:10 am at the Hungry Heron Farm, 81 Moosehead
Trail in the Town of Waldo to plant winter rye, and then move to the Troy
Howard Middle School in Belfast from 1-3 pm where folks living off the grid,
beekeepers, the Belfast Co-op, Electric Vehicles Maine, Green Streets and
Waldo County Permaculture (among others) will exchange their ideas designed
to cut carbon emissions. For more information about this event, contact

Sunday, 1-3 PM - Heating needs among residents in our local community will
be addressed by a panel consisting of Susan Crane, pastor of Henderson
Memorial Church and coordinator of ECU-Heat; Pam Green, UMF student involved
in retrofitting an existing campus building; and Nancy Teel, W. ME Community
Action coordinator of weatherization projects for those in need. The panel
will discuss heating needs of residents of Franklin County and offer ways
that our campus and local community can help assure that no one will be
freezing this winter. Demonstrations of retrofits will be given. UMF Ricker

10/10/10 Global Work Party for climate change! Organized by 350.org , people
all over the Earth will work together to reduce the CO2 level of Earth's
atmosphere from our current 392 ppm DOWN to 350 ppm - the climate change
