Linda L. Nelson, Founding Executive Director, Opera House Arts at the Stonington Opera House (OHA) has more than 20 years of experience in media, technology, and business as an executive; an organizational consultant; an editor and journalist; and new media pioneer. In addition to helping launch Opera House Arts in 1999 and renovating the 1912 Stonington Opera House, on the National Register of Historic Places, she is a member of the Maine Arts Commission; the Stonington Economic Development Committee; the Deer Isle-Stonington schools' Technology Committee; and the Town of Stonington's Lobster Working Group. Through OHA's Imagination Project public access digital media studio, she has produced four local documentary films: Tire Tracks; Island Prom; Off to Do or Die; and Life by Lobster. Prior to relocating to Stonington year-round, Nelson worked for 13 years for the Village Voice, the nation's largest and most acclaimed alternative newsweekly. As Chief Information Officer for the Voice, she was responsible for the start-up of the newspaper's new media business division (<a href="http://www.villagevoice.com">www.villagevoice.com</a>). Her business experience as CEO of several small technology consulting firms includes: strategic planning; facilities management; budgeting; organizational development; and operational start-ups.
