Notices:

The Maine Video Activists Network (MVAN) is planning to collect and list
various video clips and releases being produced in Maine on a monthly or
periodic basis. Possible video titles might include one on a local peace
rally, or an interview of someone who has experienced torture, or actions
against corporations taking water for bottling purposes, or a solar heating
workshop, or a response to the Red Cross when it is discriminating against
gay men who want to donate blood. To get occasional emails about new
releases, contact Craig Saddlemire, craig at roundpointmovies.org or do a web
search for the Maine Video Activists Network.

Maine Equal Justice Partners (MEJP) has produced a series of guides and
brochures on financial and medical assistance for low income people in the
state. For example: "Maine's Medical Assistance Programs: Who's Covered and
Who's Not" and "Help with Winter Utility and Fuel Bills: A Resource Guide."
MEJP will be working with low income groups on legislative bills, on issues
such as health care, fuel assistance, and affordable housing, for the next
session as well. Call MEJP, 1-866-626-7059 or www.mejp.org.

"Gaian Voices" is an occasional free newsletter from western Maine about the
benefits of an ecological, earth-centered lifestyle. A recent edition
included articles on baking bread and making tortillas, "The Rapture in the
Earth," and medicinal herbs. Journals are free (if you find one in the
neighborhood) or by donation of $20 (more or less) to cover postage and
other production costs. Contact: Susan Meeker-Lowry, smlowry at fairpoint.net
or 697-2002.

Looking for holiday gifts? You can always find a good, affordable selection
from HOME (Homeworkers Organized for More Employment) in Orland. Their
latest newspaper includes their annual holiday gifts section--Guatemalan
crafts, maple syrup, balsam pillows, wreaths, pottery, and more. For a
complete list: HOME, 469-7961 or www.homecoop.net.
