Hi all,
If you don't want to get any more updates about Atlantica, just let me
know, apologies if you're getting duplicates.
Atlantica Updates:
1. This is very last minute for anyone who hasnt heard yet, but there
will be an informational meeting about Atlantica this Wed, Sept 10, at
5:30pm at Unity College, South Coop 207.
2. Updated flyers for the Bar Harbor event are attached and the
maine.indymedia.org website has been updated.
3. Maine Independent Media Center has been rejected for media
accreditation to cover the New England Council of Governors and Eastern
Canadian Premeiers meeting due to the fact that we somehow failed to fit
their guidelines that only allow recognized news gathering operation
serving the public interest.
4. Theres a few good opportunities to get the word out about Atlantica
coming up. They include:
- Mid-Maine Global Forum Talk Nayan Chanda: From Coffee to i-Pod: Tales of
Globalization, A sweeping look at the rise of globalization through
history, 11:45, Thursday, September 11th, The Center, 93 Main Street,
Waterville.FMI: hayrus at gwi.net
- Democracy Now! Journalist Amy Goodman will be speaking in Portland this
Friday at 7pm at Portland High School 284 Cumberland Avenue (tix are
$10-15), and speaking for free in Bangor at 3pm at the Hammond St. Church
after an anti war rally in Paul Bunyan park that starts at 1pm (More info
at http://www.peacectr.org/wp/index.php) Goodman is also speaking at and
College of the Atlantic on Saturday at 7:30pm, Gates Community Center,
College of the Atlantic, 105 Eden Street, Bar Harbor.
5. On October 9 there is a Citizen Trade Policy Commission meeting in
Bangor. This group was formed by legislation from Maine Fair Trade Center.
Public testimony on Atlantica is wanted.
6. Heres the agenda for the Guvnas conference no agenda published for
Monday, guessing its just free schmoozing at the Bar Harbor Club.
