Good weather prevailed, and on the busiest and sunniest Saturday
Blue Hill Village could imagine, about 20 people gathered at the Iraq
War Dead Memorial to mow, clear and clean, and plant the 5,000+ flags.
MANY thanks to Lori Connors and Rick Traub for the mowing.
People pulled up the flags between 10:00 and 11:00, then there was
mowing and weeding, finally the flags were re-set, and all done by 2:00.
The flowers are thriving. The result is beautiful.
People stopped by throughout the day to inquire about the memorial,
to offer help or thanks.
Once again we understand the importance of this small gesture of
reflection in the center of a seeming vortex of violence and
militarization.
Thank you, all.
