Remembrance of War Dead on Nov. 14
BLUE HILL–On Saturday, Nov. 14, there will be a remembrance of lives
lost in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan at the War Dead Memorial on
Main Street. In preparation for winter, the flags will be removed
from the field and the names of the U.S. soldiers who have lost their
lives in Afghanistan will be read. An equal number of Iraqi and
Afghani civilians who have lost their lives in current wars will also
be named.
Peninsula Peace and Justice has maintained this memorial for 5 years.
To date, 42 soldiers from Maine have died in these wars. The memorial
is located between the Blue Hill Congregational Church and the Blue
Hill Public Library. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. All welcome.
