Backside Celebrity Chef Cooks for the Common Good
                  (l. Frank, Laila and Gabriella)

Mark this Friday, February 5, 12 noon-2 PM on your calendars now. As if the food being produced every Friday for our soup and live music events at Seawall was not already spectacular enough, the legendary local Chef Frank Keenan will be cooking for the Common Good on that date! Mr. Keenan hails form Louisiana and the lure of our fresh shrimp sources brought to a kitchen by the sea was just too much for him. He cooks for close to two hundred people at the backside festival in W. Tremont every August. Folks who became addicted to his food while he ran Keenan's restaurant in Bass Harbor clamor to relive their culinary pleasure every summer. He will be adding his own special Etouffee and Jambalaya to our menu this week. Chuck D and Emma on guitar and fiddle will be supplying the music, and volunteer chefs Joni Roths, Allan Sephenson and Deb Stahlman will be rounding out the menu in style. If you miss this, you will be sorry when you hear about it from your friends.
Cabin Fever Saturday Nights roll on at Seawall!
Cabin Fever Saturday nights, which previewed on January 16, have already proved very, very popular. We will continue this program EVERY SATURDAY NIGHT through the winter (as long as the money holds out!) Most gratifying has been the response of families with kids who now have a place where they can all enjoy a good time together with their neighbors on Saturday nights from 6-9 PM. We have settled in on a format that will provide an all-u-can eat buffet meal with a "one price includes all" suggested donation that is very affordable. There will be live music for the adults, kid activities and fresh hot pizzas every week. The menu will vary beyond that under the direction and inspiration of our "Saturday Night Live" head chefs, Laila Dekkaki and Gabrielle Coniglio. This coming week, February 6, will feature kids make your own personal pizza. Instruction, as well as, our ubiquitous balloon hat table of fun, and great live music. Suggested Voluntary Donation for this week will be $7.50 for one $12.50 for two and $15.00 for a family of three or more. WE CAN DEFINITELY USE MORE VOLUNTEERS TO HELP PRODUCE AND RUN THIS EVENT. CALL 266-2733 OR SEND AN E-MAIL TO larryorfran at yahoo.com to volunteer your services for this Saturday night or any other Saturday coming up! Live music for this week, Saturday, February 6 will be provided by The Wave, the mellow jazz and ballad duo from Downeast of Muk Dodge on Guitar and Mary Spence on vocals and percussion.
Pizza Oven Donated to The Common Good
Pizza, along with balloon hats has particularly delighted the kids at our Cabin Fever Saturday nights which started on January 16 and are planned to happen every Saturday night all winter. To help turn out the tasty creations of our Saturday night live chefs, Laila Dekkaki and Gabriella Consiglio, a commercial pizza oven has been obtained, free of charge. Board member Matt Gerald was instrumental in letting our need be known and Hatsana Phantavong, of Bar Harbor actually donated the oven and made it happen. It has been successfully moved to to the Common Good Café at Seawall, and will be hooked up and operational as soon as we raise the necessary funds for its proper installation. There are great days and nights of pizza pleasures ahead for the Common Good!
