A friend of mine in SWH has been doing eco-chaplaincy work (see below)
with the folks resisting mountaintop removal mining in West Virgina.
She is going to be sharing some of her experiences next Wednesday at the
Southwest Harbor library.

From the eco-chaplaincy website: Eco-chaplaincy is a form of
inter-religious and secular 'spiritual' support for people engaged in
environmental and social justice work to help prevent burn-out and
inspire and sustain long-term vision. The goal is to provide support for
the Great Turning as we transition from the Industrial Growth Era toward
a Life-Sustaining society.

Here is the text from the flier for next week's event:

                     Wednesday, March 3rd
                       6:30 - 8:30 PM

Sarah Vekasi, M.Div., is home for the week and wants to share her
experiences and work in the coalfields of Appalachia. Sarah is from
Southwest Harbor and followed a calling this past summer and moved to
Ansted, West Virginia to offer pastoral support as an eco-chaplain with
the communities organized to end mountaintop removal coal mining. Come
learn more about the movement and how you can help.
