What's happening? 
Today: A fascinating talk about transitioning to self-reliance;
Thursday: Castlebay's wonderful music; Friday: The Greenhorns (and these
plans were just finalized!) on young farmers, and then next Tuesday, a
talk on food for children....Bird walks, and more...That's just this
week.
And of course, plan on coming for COA's Earth Day April 23.

Transition 101 - Building Sustainable Communities Tuesday, April 12 at
4 p.m.
Heather Wight ’12 and other members of the Ellsworth-based Hancock
County Transition Town group talk on transitioning to a more
self-reliant community. Human Ecology Forum. McCormick.

Wednesday, April 13 from 4 to 5 p.m.

Celtic music and more from a venerable Maine duo. Gates. Tickets at the

Wild Herbs Walk and Workshop 
Friday, April 15 from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Ahead of The Greenhorns, COA alumna Rachel Randall shares herbal

Friday, April 15 at 7 p.m.
A film about America’s young farmers, accompanied by a panel of

Tuesday, April 19 at 4 p.m.
A conversation with Jan Poppendieck, author of Free For All: Fixing

Spring Egg-stravaganza
Thursday, April 21 from 3-5 p.m.
Celebrate spring with an egg hunt, egg decorating and a bit of egg
investigating. Ages 2 and up. Suggested donation: $2 per child. No need

Sociecological talk on Maine Fisheries
Thursday, April 21 at 4:10 p.m.
Carla Guenther of PERC speaks about how conversations with lobstermen
and other stakeholders in California led to proposed legislation for
self-funding lobster management. Marine Policy Speaker Series.

Earth Day!
Saturday, April 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
COA's student-run Earth Day combines environmental and social awareness
with a multitude of festivities: Holi, African dance, poetry, film,
primitive skills, self-reliance talks, butanol, composting, and more.

Monday April 25 at 4 p.m. 
A talk by educator David Sobel, MEd, COA’s visiting Friend of
Education, an expert on children in nature and place-based education.

See amazing tidepool creatures, active dioramas of local animals in
