Please join Peninsula Peace & Justice this weekend for the annual
commemoration of the Field of Flags.
In this place we remember those lives lost in Afghanistan, Iraq and
Pakistan...
On Memorial Day weekend, everyone is invited to share in the setting up of
the field, and please plan to bring a friend. We will be using over 6000
flags. The plan is for Saturday May 28 (rain date Sunday May 29), beginning
at 10 a.m.
Bring workgloves, sunscreen, bugspray. Typically, we will finish within 2 to
3 hours, depending on how many people participate. If you are wondering
about the weather, call 326-4405 Saturday morning.
Many hands are needed for the preparation and maintenance of the field over
a 6-month period. We welcome everyone to share in this good work: mowing,
planting flowers, replacing flags, standing vigil. There will be several
opportunities during the summer and fall to participate. Financial support
is also needed (annual cost to purchase flags is about $450). Many hands and
many small donations will make this a true community experience. If you can
send a donation, please make it payable to Peninsula Peace & Justice and
mail to P.O. Box 1515 Blue Hill.
Thank you for your part in bearing witness, in acknowledging and remembering
the lives that have been lost and that continue to be lost -- Iraqi, Afghan,
and Pakistani as well as American.
