Film Budrus Gives Hope for Justice and Peace

BLUE HILLBudrus is a documentary film about the nonviolent struggle of one
West Bank Palestinian community to stop the Apartheid Wall from cutting
through village lands. The film will be shown at the Blue Hill Public
Library at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2. The film features a Palestinian
community organizer, Ayed Morrar, his fifteen-year-old daughter Iltezam, and
an Israeli border police captain, Yasmine Levy. Iltezam organized other
Palestinian women who moved to the front of the demonstrations.

The Israeli military, IDF, had uprooted village olive trees and were about
to cut off Palestinians from their farmland, their livelihood. Through
unarmed resistance, Palestinian villagers and Israeli allies defeated the
Israeli military and preserved the village of Budrus. Similar nonviolent
Stop-the-Wall demonstrations now occur throughout the West Bank. The film,
directed by Julia Bacha, the co-writer of Control Room, is part of Peninsula
Peace & Justice¹s fall film series. All are welcome. Info: 326-4405.
