IVAW holds "War Voices" Forum, Oct 7 in Washington, DC
Friday, October 7 marks ten years of the U.S. Global War on Terror, which
began with the invasion of Afghanistan in 2001.  Iraq Veterans Against the
War and its Afghanistan Veterans Against the War committee will commemorate
the occasion with "War Voices," a public dialogue on war, economic
recession, and Islamophobia.

Building Community After a Decade of Struggle at Home and Abroad
War Voices is bringing together community organizers and social justice
leaders from the U.S. and Afghanistan to explore the effects of a decade of
war and strategize for the future. The evening will feature structured
panels on the implications of militarism in both the United States and
Afghanistan, as well as spoken word, poetry, artwork, and short Afghan-made
films. Panelists include Afghanistan Veterans Against the War committee
co-founder, Brock McIntosh; Fatima Mojadiddy and Suraia Sahar of Afghans for
Peace; Institute for Policy Studies Fellow Phyllis Bennis; Chris Hellman of
the National Priorities Project; Poverty Initiative Scholar, Willie Baptist;
and Attorney Ashraf Nubani, Acting Director of the National Coalition to
Protect Civil Freedoms. Join us! In Solidarity, Iraq Veterans Against the
War War Voices Forum is a coalition effort of the following groups: Afghans
