The Maine legislature is about to go back into session. Among
the myriad of bills they will be looking at is an Anti-Bullying bill. This
bill was supported 10-3 in the education committee and passed in both the
house and senate last session before getting hitting a road block in the
house before the final vote where it received only 80 votes in favor. This
bill helps schools develop clear anti bullying policies that will protect
kids and help provide safer environment for Maine students to learn and
actually provides the training that teachers need in this area. The bill
was sent back to committee and will be picked back up as soon as January.
Help get this bill passed. Tell Hancock county legislators that this bill
is important to all Maine students. Rep. Malaby voted against this bill
tell him that Mainers won't tolerate bullying. Senator Langley also needs
to hear from his constituents, pass Morrison's Anti-bullying bill 1237.
Phonebanks will take place from the Hancock county democratic office
Wednesday January 4th and 11th from 5:30-8. Contact Beth Allen for more
information @ 812-8654 or via email @ ballen at equalitymaine.org.
