THIS IS COMING EARLY BECAUSE I WILL BE AWAY DEC. 14-16. I WILL SEND  
OUT A MORE COMPLETE CALENDAR ON DEC. 17 IF THERE ARE MORE IMPORTANT  
THINGS TO ADD TO THIS.

FOLKS, I PLAN TO STOP DOING THIS CALENDAR IN MAY OR JUNE OF 2015, AT  
THE LATEST. I'M SURE IT'S NOT THAT BIG A BENEFIT FOR ALL OF YOU, BUT  
IF ANYONE WANTS TO TAKE THIS LITTLE PROJECT ON, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

Here are some calendar items for December (plus a few earlier and/or  
later).  FEEL FREE TO PICK AND CHOOSE AND NOT USE EVERY ITEM. If you  
know of things that should be publicized, please send them to me by  
the 15th of the month preceding the month when the event occurs. I  
don't have time to search for things, so your assistance is really a  
big help in getting notice of more upcoming events.

November 23: "Fixing the Future" film shown (jobs, income, and

November 28: "Inequality for All" film shown (Robert Reich on economic

December 1: Juan Cole talks about "The Obama Administration and the

December 4: Dialogue w/Rear Admiral Michael Dumont re: being gay in

December 4: Film showing of "Across the Divide" and talk on the  
Holocaust and current Middle East conflict w/Alice Rothchild  to

December 7-8: Presentation of "Americans Who Tell the Truth" portraits  
and talks by those who were painted by Alice Rothchild (7th, 7

December 10: Peaceworks annual winter gathering to celebrate Human

Notices:

Over 26,000 signatures were collected on election day in support of We  
the People's referendum petition for a constitutional convention to  
declare that corporations are not people and money is not speech.  
However, that's only about half the way to the goal of 60,000+  
signatures needed to get the issue on the Maine ballot. So, more  
people are needed and more signatures. If you can help collect them at  
town meetings or city councils, or at other public locations, contact  
We the People, c/o Jan Carpenter, 326-8635 or Beedy Parker, 236-8732

The Sierra Club's Global Population and Environment Program has new  
handouts on the population issue--how too many people is hurting the  
environment. As the subtitle explains: "The Fate of the World Is in  
Your Hands and in Your Pants." Sierra Club Maine should have a version  
of these flyers, which remind us that about half of all pregnancies  
are unintended. That means that parents are not ready, or can't  
adequately pay for and care for a(nother) child, or it may have health  
repercussions for the parents or child. Go to the Sierra Club's www.sierraclub.org/poulation

The Maine Wabanaki-State Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) is  
on the road and looking to for speaking gigs around the state. The  
commission is addressing the horrors that Native children went thru  
when they were taken from their parents and placed in foster care  
homes. While most of this ended over the past several decades, the  
memory lives on in those who were the victims and in Maine society as  
a whole. There will be hearings on the impacts and opportunities for  
those hurt to testify to how they were affected. For presentations on
