> Agenda Item: Bucksport's intervenor status in the Penobscot Nation v. State of Maine Attorney General Mills Case
>
> Hello Allies of the Penobscot Nation!
>
> I assume you are all aware of the Penobscot Nation v. State of Maine Attorney General Mills case and that the Judge ruled in favor of the State. I assume also that you are aware that Bucksport, along with other corporations and towns adjacent to the Penobscot River, resolved in 2012 to join a coalition which supported the State's position in this case. Sherri Mitchell, a Penobscot Nation attorney, has informed Allies in this issue, that this case is still alive, will most probably be appealed, and that it would be beneficial for intervenors to remove themselves from this case.
>
> To that end, we are organizing Allies in the Bucksport area to attend the January 28 Town Council meeting and voice their support in encouraging the Bucksport Town Council to remove Bucksport's name as an intervenor. Speakers are asked to be brief and concise!(one or two minutes) Nancy Minott and Hans Krichels will speak and we hope you will, too!
>
> We've spoken with Sue Lessard, Interim Town Manager, who said Bucksport never voted to be an intervenor. However, the resolve to join the coalition is on public record, unanimously supported by all the councilors in September 2012. We've spoken to Councilors Paul Rabs and David Kee who now understand our concerns and encouraged our efforts to bring this to the full council. We've contacted Orono to understand the process they followed to have Orono remove their name as intervenor in this case.
>
> So. . . please plan to join us at the January 28 Bucksport Town Council Meeting. Bring your voice and your friends. . . let's fill the chamber! Also, please forward this to others. . .
>
> Thanks and hope to see you! Please email any questions you might have!n
