> We talked about Steve’s experiences on a mental health professionals tour of parts of Palestine’s West Bank and Israel in late March and early April. PPJ invites Steve to give a talk with some of his photos about what meant the most to him relating to his learning from people and situations in Israel and Palestine. This may have to do with child arrests and the mental health impacts of the Occupation of Palestine over the past 70 years as well as day to day. PPJ has scheduled Friday May 25 at 7 pm in the Howard Room. Steve will send Peter something for the poster, and Steve will send out a press release.
>
> PPJ agreed to co-sponsor, along with the Brooksville Climate Action group and other groups, a talk by Kelsey Juliana, which is being arranged by Rob Shetterly in early June.
>
> We plan to invite Dud to talk about his recent trip and analysis of the situation in Okinawa and the Pacific Rim, now that he’s returned from his participation in the protest activities there with other Veterans for Peace members. Judy will get in touch with him to propose a plan on this.
>
PPJ’s mailing address is changed to P.O. Box 1257, Blue Hill ME 04614. Steve has offered to host our incoming mail to save dollars.

> Our next organizational meeting is scheduled for the Bass Room, in the Blue Hill Library, at 12:00 p.m., on the first Wednesday of next month, June 6, 2018.

> "The 'backfire effect' is based on experimental work by Brendan Nyhan and Jason Reifler, in which they found that when partisans were presented with evidence that one of their politically expedient beliefs was wrong, they would reject the evidence and 'double down' on their mistaken belief. Worse, in some cases the presentation of refutatory evidence caused some subjects to increase the strength of their mistaken beliefs.”
