For nearly 20 years the NY based Pastors for Peace has been organizing Friendshipment Caravans to Cuba, and people from Maine have always participated. The goal of the caravans is to challenge the travel restrictions imposed by the United States, to introduce US citizens to the reality of Cuban life, to educate about the immorality of the US economic blockade and to normalize relations between the two countries.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-pagination:none;mso-layout-grid-align:none; text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family:Helvetica"> <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-pagination:none;mso-layout-grid-align:none; text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family:Helvetica">Caravan participants hail from the US and Canada, Mexico and several European countries. After traveling across the United States, 13 caravan routes will converge in Texas, to prepare for crossing the US/Mexico border with hundreds of tons of humanitarian aid.
