Hancock County Children’s Council, a program of Downeast Health
Services, cordially invites fathers, grandfathers and other male
caregivers to participate in a monthly parenting series just for
men titled “Parenting with Dignity®”. <span style=""> </span>Based
on
the video series of the same name, Mac Bledsoe (NFL Drew
Bledsoe’s father), shares his parenting philosophy “<i><span
style="color: black;">"Our children will make all of the
most important decisions in their lives - on their own. As
parents, the only thing we can do is teach them how to make
good decisions".<o:p></o:p></span></i></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span
style="font-size: 11pt; font-family:
"Arial","sans-serif";">Fundamental to the <span
style="color: black;">Parenting with Dignity®</span>
curriculum is a focus on developing parenting skills that help
to address many of the challenges faced by inexperienced and

9 session program will be held monthly on the first Tuesday of
every month, beginning October 5<sup>th</sup>, 2010 at
5:30pm-7:30pm.<span style=""> </span>If you are interested in

minimum of 5 men to participate and the space will accommodate
up to 12.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

with Dignity®</span><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family:
"Arial","sans-serif";"> teaches parents how
to instill a sense of responsible decision making in their kids</span><span
style="font-size: 11pt; font-family:
"Arial","sans-serif";">. This is a positive
approach to parenting that is simple, easily understood,
applicable in any situation, and incredibly intuitive. <span
style="">Learn how to foster happy, self-directed children
with a strong value structure and a sense of accountability
for their actions</span>. Discover how to teach your children
to act appropriately in different situations, and to be
confident in their self worth because they know they have the
unconditional love of their parents and belief in themselves.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

Hancock County Children’s Council, a program of Downeast Health
Services Inc, is promoting protective factors for protecting
children and promoting healthy families.<span style=""> </span>Protective
factors are conditions in families and communities that, when
present, increase the health and well-being of children and
families.<span style=""> </span>They are attributes that
serve as buffers, helping parents to find resources, supports,
or coping strategies that allow them to parent effectively, even
under stress.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoBodyText" style="text-align: justify;"><span
style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">A
child’s early experience of being nurtured and developing a bond
with a caring adult affects all aspects of behavior and
development.<span style=""> </span>When parents and children
have strong, warm feelings for one another, children develop
trust that their parents will provide what they need to thrive,
including love, acceptance, positive guidance and protection.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
