Offered”</span></u></b></p>
<p class="MsoBodyText"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">The Downeast
Children’s Council and Maine Families Hancock County, programs
of Downeast Health Services Inc, will be presenting a FREE
4-week series beginning Tuesday, March 1<sup>st</sup> on
“Connection Parenting”.<span style=""> </span>This weekly
series is for parents and guardians of pre-school and school-age
children.</span></p>
<p class="MsoBodyText"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Cathy Jacobs,
Maine Families Director, will lead this weekly series of classes
on learning parenting practices which develop strong, healthy
bonds between parents and children.<span style=""> </span></span><span
style="font-size: 11pt;">This series is based on Pam Leo’s book
of the same name, “Connection Parenting”.<span style=""> </span>A
$15 fee will be charged to cover the cost of the book, or you
may borrow a copy from our library to be returned at the
completion of the series.</span></p>
<p class="MsoBodyText"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Classes will
be Tuesdays, 5:00pm-7:00pm at Downeast Health Services, 52
Christian Ridge Road, Ellsworth.<span style=""> </span>Please

Parenting recognizes that securing and maintaining a healthy
parent-child bond is our primary work as parents and the key to
our children’s optimal human development.<span style=""> </span>Our
effectiveness as parents is in direct proportion to the strength
of the bond we have with our child.<span style=""> </span>Connection
Parenting promotes parenting practices that support a strong,
healthy parent-child bond.</span></p>
<p class="MsoBodyText"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Connection
parenting is proactive and focuses on ways to maintain and
increase the parent-child bond/connection.<span style=""> </span>Connection
parenting is an ideal, a navigation star we can look to for
guidance.<span style=""> </span>Even if we can’t parent in the
most nurturing ways all the time, the more often that we can,
the more our children will get what they need, and the better
they will be able to weather the times when we parent in less
nurturing ways.</span></p>
