By now, you've probably read Representative Koffman's op-ed, published
both in Thursday's MDIslander and today's Bangor daily News:

Bewildered over consolidation, Mount Desert Islander, 4/19
http://mdislander.com/site/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2800&Itemid=40

Smart consolidation plan can help state save money, Bangor Daily News, 4/21
http://bangordailynews.com/news/t/viewpoints.aspx?articleid=148946

I guess I understand our representative's position here but I have to
say that I object to the outline order in his logic's dependent
clausing.

As a summarizing paraphrase, rather than:
"While local governance remains important, reform through the state's
oversight is necessary and unavoidable."

I would have preferred to read:
"While the state's budget problems resulting from school funding are
severe, any solution to them must not be at the expense of what's
already working locally."
