Hi
We met with the Speaker of the House last Tuesday to find out his
position. I believe he has a better understanding of the problems with
the Law this year than he did last year. He made two basic points:
     1. He wants to have more local control
     2. He wants to achieve savings by units working together.

I think he is willing to work with us. We need to have people contact
him to let him know what you want.

The Speaker also talked about the change the Ed Commissioner is taking
to reduce the .15 weight to .10 for the disadvantaged student
calculation. He is concerned because Portland (his district) has a
substantial population of students on free and reduced lunch.

Dick
