                                                         Jonathan
Courtney of York County

We have now talked with 74 of 151 House members and 18 of 35 Senate members.

If any of you have any news, please e-mail me. I'll be in Augusta
Tuesday and Wednesday morning at 8 AM. It would be nice to have some help.

I just had a conversation with Rep. Hannah Pingree. They hope to enact
the budget tomorrow. There is a real possibility that the governor may
even veto the budget. Then they will run the enactment of LD 1932.
Hannah believes that the governor will veto LD 1932 and is not confident
that they have enough votes in the House to override
his veto. Hannah said that if the legislature does not override the
veto, she will vote for repeal. I think that the legislature has done
the best job they can do with 1932, but I do not think that it fixes
this flawed legislation. It will be an interesting two and one half
weeks. I do not believe that the legislature will debate LD 2280 until
after LD 1932 is disposed of one way or the other.

Please remain in touch.

Sincerely,
Skip
