Good Morning
I am sure most of you have heard the penalty bill to delay the
penalties for one year passed the House and the Senate with the 2/3 vote
necessary and will now be up to the governor to sign or not.
I want to thank everyone who called or emailed the legislators
about this bill. It certainly was a big help. I also want especially
commend Mark Robinson , TM of Fayette and Rep. Peter Johnson of
Greenville. They worked very hard and very effectively on this bill and
they deserve much of the credit for this bill passing.
I also want to point out that the TV stations are saying that the
DOE said the penalty money would have been given to those schools who
consolidated. That is not true at this time. The Commissioner promised
many unit some of the penalty money, but the Ed Committee told her it
would be the Legislature's decision how that money would be use and that
decision will be made next legislative session which starts in January.
Thanks to all again.
