Good evening everyone,
Tomorrow, Tuesday, November 17th at 12:30 PM, we shall be making a presentation to the Education Committee about what needs to be fixed with the school consoldiation law. We have seven recommendations to make which are included in the attached statement. Roger Shaw, superintendent from SAD42, Mars Hill and Quentin Clark, a super-
intendent from western Maine will also be testifying with us.
The hearing begins at 12:30 PM and can be heard on the web at the following address:
www.maine.gov/legis/audio/education_cmte.html.
Thank you to the numerous suggestions you all shared with us. We are copying many of them and giving them to the committee members for their information. I want to express my profound appreciation to Judy Sproule of Trenton, Brian Hubbell of Bar Harbor, and Professor Gordon Donaldson of Lamoine who have labored with me during this past week to develop, write, modify, edit our recommendations.
We hope to work with other school related organizations to develop a list of recommendations which we all can support and work with the legislature to get them enacted. Please continue to forward this communication to all our supporters so that they may stay informed.
Please give us whatever feedback you may have about the statement and recommendations.
Sincerely,
Skip
