Good morning everyone,
Dick Dyer has listed below an easy way for all of us to get posters made for
display in our local communities next week in anticipation of the November 3
referendum. It seems inexpensive and quite doable with a little bit of
effort. This would be a good project to do on this rainy Saturday. Then
you will have posters ready to display when it clears.
I believe that Dick told me to ask the copy centers to use ink for printing
the posters instead of toner. I am going to Bangor this morning and will
get some printed at Staples.
Please give this e-mail the widest dissemination to all your friends. We
are in the home stretch and want to do all we can to insure repeal on
Tuesday, November 3.
Incidentally, voting laws have been changed so that you can vote in your
community before November 3 without having to give a reason why you will be
absent on November 3. WE WANT TO ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO VOTE AS SOON AS
POSSIBLE NEXT WEEK ON A GOOD WEATHER DAY IN CASE NOVEMBER 3 IS A BAD WEATHER
DAY.
Oh, another piece of information from Harry Pringle of Drummond, Woodsum. I
talked with Harry at the Me School Management Association meeting on
Thursday. He told me that in 1860 there were 4,164 school districts in
Maine.
Obviously, there has been a great deal of consolidation since then. This
consolidation effort by the Baldacci Admin-
istration is the first and only consolidation effort, which has NOT provided
some incentive to consolidate. One more reason why this law was flawed from
the start. You can be assured that all of us who are doing interviews next
week will make that fact known.
If anyone has any ideas, please send them along. Thank you all for your
continuing work and support.
Sincerely,
Skip
