Annual Swords into Plowshares vigil, Oct. 5 at Bath Iron Works

Please pass along to others in your group or area. Thanks.
Smilin’ Trees Disarmament Farm continues its campaigns of “Swords into Plowshares” with its annual vigil and walk for peace on October 5, 2013, during Keep Space for Peace Week. The vigil/walk will begin at 11:30 AM, across from the administration building at Bath Iron Works (BIW), Washington Street, Bath. The walk will go to the US Navy Research Center and will include distributing leaflets during the noon shift change.
The goals of the event are to Stop! The militarization of outer space and to End! The use of drones as weapons of war. The vigil at BIW also highlights the production by General Dynamics, operator of the facility, of Aegis guided-missile destroyers, contributors of the militarization of the US and the world. These warships ae destined to fight a nuclear war, the results of which can only be catastrophic all over the earth.
Smilin’ Trees believes that such weapons of mass destruction and plans to fight a nuclear war are immoral and lead to a culture of endless war. It is time for disarmament, not further militarization. For more information, call 763-4062.
