BIDDER 70 to be shown in Blue Hill

BLUE HILL – Peninsula Peace & Justice will screen the new film BIDDER 70 on Friday May 3rd . The multi-award-winning documentary is the story of Tim DeChristopher, who went to prison for offering a false bid on lands being illegally sold by the US Bureau of Land Management. The 22,000 acre Utah lands, adjacent to the wilderness treasure Canyonlands National Park, were attractive for their resources but seen by environmentalists as an unacceptable giveaway to the oil and gas industry.
Rob Shetterly, author of the Americans Who Tell the Truth portrait series, will be present with his portrait of DeChristopher and to share how he came to know this young activist, who is being released from prison in late April.
The film will be shown at Blue Hill Library at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Info: 326-4405.
