Big Tank in Searsport?
Does Maine need a 138-foot-tall tank containing 22.7 million gallons of highly flammable liquid petroleum gas (LPG) built near Rte. 1 in Searsport? Astrig Tanguay, a small business owner in Searsport and a spokesperson for Thanks But No Tank, a community activist organization representing small businesses and residents of Searsport and the surrounding towns, doesn’t think so. Tanguay will speak at the Ellsworth Public Library on Tuesday, February 14, at 7 pm. She will cover the safety, environmental, health and economic consequences of the tank project and answer questions from the audience. Find more information about the tank at www.tbnt.org.
