Donated vehicles wanted for activists in Maine

HCCN

Please pass this along to others in your group or area. Thanks.

Do you have a vehicle in decent working condition (doesn’t mean it’s perfect, but that, to the best of your knowledge, it is running OK and doesn’t need a large amount of work to be road worthy) that you are not using (or won’t be soon) and can donate to an activist in Maine? If you know others who might have a car to donate, please pass this request onto them as well.

**Instead of giving your car to a nonprofit that will just sell the car and pocket the money, wouldn’t it be better to give the car to an organization that will give it free to someone who can’t afford one and that will enable them to work more effectively in their community for justice and peace?**

ROSC (Resources for Organizing and Social Change) has gotten about a dozen vehicles donated in the past few years that have been given to younger and/or low income activists who needed a vehicle to get around to do their social change work. We have provided a tax deduction to those who donated vehicles and can provide that again to those who might need the deduction.

We can receive cars or pick them up.

WHEN WE RECENTLY RECEIVED A DONATED CAR AND LET PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT IT, WE GOT EIGHT REQUESTS FOR THE ONE CAR. THESE INCLUDED PEOPLE FROM THE AFRICAN-AMERICAN, IMMIGRANT, AND NATIVE COMMUNITIES.
IF YOU CAN DONATE A VEHICLE NOW OR IN THE NEAR FUTURE, PLEASE CONTACT LARRY DANSINGER, 525-7776 OR rosc@psouth.net. Thanks for any help you can offer.
