Field of Flags, Veterans Day Weekend

Hello, Friends,
PPJ invites everyone to be part of our annual Veterans Day weekend Field of Flags remembrance. This year, because we will not be focusing so much on the flags themselves, we have chosen to host a reading circle. Please come to read, speak your thoughts, or just to listen as we share reflections on the human costs of war and our visions of peace.
Noon until 1:00 or later…
For those who can stay after the circle, we will be taking down the flags and prayer flags and preparing the flower beds for winter. Rakes, clippers and mulch would be useful as well as a few crocus bulbs.

Community Reading Circle: The Human Costs of War

BLUE HILL – Peninsula Peace & Justice will host a collective reading circle beginning at 12 noon on Saturday, November 9. Anyone may join in gathering for any part of the noon hour at the War Dead Memorial Field of Flags on Main Street in in Blue Hill, between the Public Library and the Congregational Church, to listen and read. Each reader will share one or two poems or other short texts of their choice, written by themselves or others, to reflect values and feelings concerned with those harmed and killed in war. Rain date: Sunday November 10.

Following this reading, anyone may stay to help disassemble the current installation of flags and banners.
