film: Crisis in the Congo
BLUE HILL– Peninsula Peace & Justice announces the showing of the film Crisis in the Congo: Uncovering the Truth. The 1996 and 1998 invasions of Congo by Rwanda and Uganda triggered enormous loss of life and widespread looting of the country’s spectacular natural wealth. The documentary explores the role played by the United States and its allies in triggering the greatest humanitarian crisis at the dawn of the 21st century.
Rob Shetterly, Brooksville author, artist and creator of the Americans Who Tell The Truth portrait series, will lead a discussion of the issues, based upon his recent conversations with Congolese activists.
The film will be shown on Wednesday October 30 at Blue Hill Library at 7:00 p.m. Free and open to the public. For info: 326-4405.
