BLUE HILL – A Canadian documentary entitled SURVIVING PROGRESS will be shown January 25 at Blue Hill Library, 7:00 p.m. Produced by Martin Scorsese and featuring Cosmologist Stephen Hawking, Primatologist Jane Goodall, author Richard Wright and many more, the film looks at the modern human predicament. By examining a range of stories from around the world the filmmakers seek to make the point that the story of human advancement is both awe-inspiring and double-edged. According to a review in The Times-Picayune, Surviving Progress “paints a portrait of a civilization with an end-game eerily similar to that of the Roman empire.” Perspectives presented range from certain catastrophe to hope based upon human moral evolution.
