January 22 Political-$ Constitutional Amendment rally/lobbying

(Note: some previously-published times are incorrect or have been changed) Tuesday, January 22 Citizens United Rally and Legislative Contacts Citizens from across Maine will be converging on Augusta to urge the legislature to pass a resolution calling for a Constitutional Amendment. Maine Citizens for Clean elections is staging a rally outside the State House, to be followed by meetings with our legislators and the vote on this resolution. To get as many people to Augusta as possible they are chartering a bus to pick people up on MDI and in Ellsworth. Current plans are for the bus to use Route 3, to make possible picking up interested people from other coastal towns. The bus schedule is: 6:30 am – Bus leaves COA in Bar Harbor 7:00 am – Bus leaves Somesville One Stop 7:30 am – Bus leaves Mill Mall in Ellsworth 9:30 am – Bus arrives in Augusta 10:00 am – Rally at the State House with a big-name speaker 11:00 am to 1 pm – meet with (and possibly have lunch with) legislators (Afternoon – potentially watch the legislature vote on the resolution) At present, the bus plan is to head back downeast at 1:00 PM They are asking for a sliding-scale contribution of $5 to $25 to make it possible for people with limited income to ride the bus to Augusta. Some folks who can’t go have contributed to subsidizing seats.
