JEJU: WHAT’S THE FUSS ABOUT??
A talk by Dud Hendrick on his recent trip to Gangjeong Village, Jeju Island, Korea, the site of a massive US-led naval base on the Island of Peace.
Dud will talk about the 6-year struggle of the villagers to resist the construction and the little-known history of the relationship of the US to Jeju Island.
With photos. All are welcome. Please come and bring a friend.
Following photo and text borrowed from “Nature, Destruction, and Love” Dir. Cho Sung-Bong’s photo essay on the changing look of the Gangjeong
In the Moetppuri,
There became a very small tent to be located.
It is to watch 24 hour illegal maritime construction (destruction).
The guy (Moetppuri Park) in the tent says he washes and uses toilets in the Poonglim resort building nearby across the Gangjeong stream.
It seems like it has been for two months. There is no electricity.
He seems to light darkness gathering sun, moon and star lights..
