 LD1095 — An Act To Facilitate the Construction and Operation of Private Prisons by Authorizing the Transport of Prisoners out of State — would approve a for-profit Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) federal prison in Milo Maine and also allow Maine’s Prisoners to be sent to for-profit CCA state prisons in other states, far from their families and any oversight.  Read more about this bill and the problems of for-profit prisons: www.maineprisoneradvocacy.org.  Info on CCA: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corrections_Corporation_of_America   Please contact Maine’s Criminal Justice Committee and your representatives and ask them to vote “No” on LD1095.  (A hearing date is not yet assigned.)  To assist in opposing this bill, contact Maine Prisoner Advocacy Coalition (M-PAC): maineprisoneradvocacy@yahoo.com
