Peter volunteered to facilitate next time, too, and to offer some opening matter.
1. We plan to show The Gatekeepers (2013 award-winning documentary offers an unprecedented look inside Israel’s Secret Service, featuring interviews with six former heads of the Shin Bet) on January 31. Judy will do press release and she and Peter already have a copy to show. Bonnie, Peter and Judy will assure us of refreshments.
2. We will individually help distribute copies of a poster Peter made forThe Healthcare Movie showing January 17 at Blue Hill Library, which we co-sponsor with Alliance for Democracy. Bonnie, Peter and Judy will assure us of refreshments.
3. In the spring, we plan to show and co-sponsor Gen Silent (…”the film that the LGBT aging movement has been waiting for”), with Douglas Kimmel, Ph.D. (of SAGE – Services and Advocacy for GLBT Elders), as speaker and discussion leader, and co-sponsoring with At Home Downeast. Other discussion looking ahead to film series screenings included mention of interest in Living Downstream, about the relations between our degraded physical environment and incidence of cancer, The Next American Revolution, a presentation of Gar Alperovitz’s thoughts about the US economy and its need of overhaul, and The House I Live in, a 2012 film by the maker of Why We Fight about the relationship between the war on drugs, US racism, and prison systems development. (Steve plans to preview the last named of these. Peter plans to preview the film on economy and revolution.)
