Maine Voices for Palestinian Rights (MVPR) has recently hosted Miko Peled, author of The General’s Son (see below) in Portland.
A few copies of this book are now available at Bookstacks in Bucksport, at a discount for friends of MVPR. The cost is $15 if you mention MVPR at the store.
Also, a free button in support of the struggle of Palestinians (from the Peace Resource Project) comes with each purchase.
As Bob Schaible describes: Miko Peled is “an author who is doing such fantastic work on behalf of Palestinian justice while also putting into people’s hands a book that offers gritty truth but also hope.”
Another book is a children’s book also available for $15 (“It presents a young boy’s imagination about how to transcend the wall that surrounds his village and a mother’s lovely and imaginative way of participating in her son’s fantasy of freedom.” Beautiful illustrations! The book is the collaborative project of the kids in Lajee Refugee Camp/Bethlehem and Amahl Bishara).
Miko Peled’s story is one that should be read. Highly recommended.
