Join us in giving three Maine people a send off as they head off to Cuba. They are taking humanitarian supplies donated from Maine and Quebec.
WHEN? – Friday July 1, 6 -9pm WHERE? – Christ Church, Paris Street, Norway, Maine
Dinner is served at 6:00 PM. Enjoy a Cuban/Peruvian meal – and Maria’s flan. Our program begins at 7:00 PM. There’ll be music, brief remarks, and a showing of the Cuban film “People to People,” all about Pastors for Peace and the Caravans.
Maria, Crystal, and Heather Cron – and others – are traveling with this year’s version of the Pastors for Peace Friendshipment Caravan. Participants travel across the United States in trucks and buses along several routes. In Tampico, Mexico they put tons of aid material on a Cuban ship before going on to Cuba. The travelers, acting in the tradition of non-violent civil disobedience, are protesting an immoral, illegal anti-Cuban embargo. Or, as the Pastors for Peace founder Rev Lucius Walker remarked, “You don’t need to ask permission to help out a neighbor.” The Pastors for Peace call for peace with justice and lead by example. The Maine organization Let Cuba Live has supported the Friendshipments since their inception in 1992.
