training to oppose anti-gay referendum

As you know, the Christian Civic League is trying to collect 55,000 signatures to get an omnibus anti-gay referendum on the 2009 ballot. The referendum if passed will cancel Civil Rights Teams in schools (that train youth leadership to reduce bullying), prevent children from being adopted by same-sex couples, cancel all domestic partner benefits including medical insurance, and make it legal again to fire someone or deny them housing or credit because of actual or suspected sexual orientation.

The best thing we can do now is try to persuade people not to sign this hateful referendum, which is being peddled as “marriage protection” even though same-sex marriage in Maine isn’t permitted.

To be sure all are on the same page, there will be a training offered THIS SUNDAY from 4:00 to 5:30 PM at the Unitarian-Universalist church in Ellsworth (on the Bucksport road).

You are invited!
