[HCCN] Jan. exhibit Americans Who Tell the Truth, Blue Hill

Truth Tellers at the Blue Hill Library
During the month of January at the Blue Hill Public Library,
Brooksville artist Robert Shetterly will exhibit recent paintings in
his portrait series, Americans Who Tell the Truth. The portraits in
the show have all been done in the last year and include peace
activist Frances Crowe and local economist, activist and simple
living advocate Scott Nearing.
The exhibit will also include Camilo Mejia, the first American
soldier to refuse re-deployment to Iraq, and the author of The Road
from ar Ramadi; Majora Carter, founder of Sustainable South Bronx;
Emma Tenayuca, 1930s labor leader from San Antonio; Erik Reece,
author of Lost Mountain and an activist against mountaintop removal
in the Appalachian Mountains; Van Jones, founder of the Ella Baker
Center in Oakland, CA, and a leader in the green jobs movement;
Janice Mirikitani, survivor of the Japanese Internment camps and
advocate for the poor and homeless through the Glide Memorial Church
in San Francisco; Betty Burkes, former president of the Women's
International League for Peace and Freedom; and Carlos Munoz,
professor emeritus at the University of California, Berkeley, leader
of the Latino rights movement in the 1960s, and originator of ethnic
studies at UC Berkeley.
The exhibit will be available for viewing during regular library
hours from January 2nd to 31st.
