A few late additions to the August (and slightly before) calendar:

agriculture in that Central American country), 7 PM, Unitarian-
Universalist Church, 121 Bucksport Rd., Ellsworth. Martha Dickinson,
marthad at gwi.net.

film about Coke and its labor, human rights, and environmental abuses
and discussion with Ray Rogers, director of the Campaign to Stop
Killer Coke, 5:30 PM, Abbott Room, Free Library, Belfast. Bethany
Louisos, be.thanlouisos at gmail.com.

August 14: The New School's tenth anniversary celebration (they are
also looking for new students). The New School, 38 York St.,

income), 2:15-5:15 PM, Holiday Inn by the Bay, Portland. Natural

August 21: 5th Annual Blackfly Ball w/music, dancing, more, evening,
Machias Valley Grange, 3 Elm St., Machias. Beehive Design Collective,
255-6737 or pollinators at beehivecollective.org for carpooling or more
info.

NOTICES:

"The True Cost of Coal" is a new mega-graphic by the Beehive Design
Collective of Machias. Released in late July, it is available in
poster form from Beehive, 255-6737 or
pollinators at beehivecollective.org or www.beehivecollective.org. The
poster is multi-colored and an excellent tool for learning about all
the costs of coal mining, including mountain top removal. The Bees
are also available to bring their posters and discuss coal issues in
detail at your group meeting, grange hall or town library, or
wherever you can set up a showing.
