Dear Friends,

Since 2005, Peninsula Peace & Justice, with the help of many of you,  
has created what has become known as The Field of Flags. Each year on  
Memorial Day weekend, we gather at the field in Blue Hill to begin a  
new memorial. And each year we pray that it will be the last time.  
112,000 US troops remain deployed in the occupation of Iraq, close to  
100,000 troops in Afghanistan, and we must continue to bear witness  
to the many different costs of these wars. The Iraq War Dead Memorial  
is part of that witness.

This year again we seek your help in the creation of the field  
memorial. More hands are needed and welcome for the preparation and  
maintenance of the field over a 6-month period. We invite everyone to  
share in this good work: mowing, planting flowers, replacing flags,  
standing vigil. There will be several opportunities during the summer  
and fall to participate. Financial support is also needed (annual  
cost to purchase flags is about $450). It is our hope that many hands  
and many small donations will make the memorial a true community  
experience. If you can help with work in the field, please contact

list (or call 326-4405 if you prefer). If you can send a donation,  
please make it payable to Peninsula Peace & Justice and mail to the  
address below.

that have been lost and that continue to be lost -- Iraqi, Afghan,  
and Pakistani as well as American.
