The May 2010 calendar will soon be updated on our website:
www.downeasthealth.org. Below, you'll find some activities to get you
started. Trainings and workshops are available for colleagues,
families, and other community members -- please share. A complete
printable 15 page calendar is available via email or website -- just ask.

presented by UM Cooperative Extension, Ellsworth. FMI, 667-8212 or

per child covers cost of supplies & materials. This 5 month youth
gardening program is designed for kids in grades 3-6 who will learn to
grown vegetables, herbs and flowers for their families in 3x5 foot
raised bed gardens.

5.13.10 *_ONLINE_* 9:00pm: "Consciously Repairing Relationships"
course taught by Rebecca Thompson meets every Thursday at 9pm for 5
weeks. Traditional parenting techniques rely on behavior-focused
strategies, like rewards and punishments. Every relationship is going
to have disconnections that result from either focusing on behaviors
that surface when our own issues as parents get in the way, or when
things are further complicated by traumatic experiences for either the

at the *new* Ellsworth Elementary-Middle School, 20 Forrest Avenue,
Ellsworth. This event is a FREE & FUN, hands-on way for families with
children, from newborn up to 5 years of age, to play together while
learning about school readiness, area resources, and all sorts of useful

Children's Council a *FREE* workshop on "What all Young People Need to
Succeed: Exploring the Developmental Asset Framework in Your Own
Setting". This workshop will examine the Developmental Asset Framework
developed by Search Institute in Minneapolis and its relationship to
positive youth development activities in which you may already be
engaged. Through presentations and interactive small group activities,
participants will gain knowledge about the research base of
Developmental Assets and explore ways of looking at programs and
