The Restorative Justice Project is expanding to Hancock and
Washington Counties. The mission of the Restorative Justice Project
is to bring about a cultural shift in the way that the community, law
enforcement, and the justice system work together to address crime
and punishment. The public is invited to attend an informational
meeting Tuesday, May 18, at 6:30 pm at the Ellsworth Public Library
(enter from rear parking lot to lower level). A documentary,
“Burning Bridges” will be shown that illustrates how the restorative
justice process has worked in one situation to help move a community
through grief and anger to healing. There will also be information
about the upcoming volunteer mentoring training in Ellsworth,
beginning June 1, 2010. For more information, see
www.rjpmidcoast.org or phone the Restorative Justice Project at (207)
338-2742.
