[HCCN] Field of Flags, Blue Hill May 28

Dear Friends,
 
Since 2005, Peninsula Peace & Justice, with the help of many of you, has
created what has become known as The Field of Flags. PPJ has committed to
the field again for 2011, and will be working with Island Peace & Justice
and others in the community. On Memorial Day weekend, everyone is invited to
share in the setting up of the field, and please plan to bring a friend. We
will be using over 6000 flags. The plan is for Saturday May 28 (rain date
Sunday May 29), beginning at 10 a.m.
 
Many hands are needed for the preparation and maintenance of the field over
a 6-month period. We welcome everyone to share in this good work: mowing,
planting flowers, replacing flags, standing vigil. There will be several
opportunities during the summer and fall to participate. Financial support
is also needed (annual cost to purchase flags is about $450). It is our hope
that many hands and many small donations will make the memorial a true
community experience. If you can help with work in the field, please contact
judy at robbinsandrobbins.com to make sure you are on our email alert list (or
call 326-4405 if you prefer). If you can send a donation, please make it
payable to Peninsula Peace & Justice and mail to the address below.
 
Thank you for your part in bearing witness, in acknowledging and remembering
the lives that have been lost and that continue to be lost -- Iraqi, Afghan,
and Pakistani as well as American.
