Veterans Day to be Recognized in Blue Hill, honoring Veterans for Peace

BLUE HILL Peninsula Peace & Justice plans a Veterans Day weekend honoring
Veterans for Peace. On Friday November 11, the film THE GOOD SOLDIER will be
shown at 7:00 p.m. at Blue Hill Library. The documentary features veterans
of World War II, the Viet Nam War, the Gulf War and Iraq. The stories of
five different servicemen over a 60-year period testify to the inescapable
sameness of a soldier¹s singular objective.

On Saturday November 12 at 11:00, the community is invited to share in the
annual taking down of the flag installation at the Iraq War Dead Memorial on
Main Street. More than 6,300 flags representing US military killed in Iraq
and Afghanistan will be removed from the ground as the memorial field is
prepared for winter. This year Peninsula Peace & Justice dedicates the
Veterans Day observance to members of Veterans for Peace, in Maine and
around the nation, who work to abolish war as an instrument of national
policy.

Everyone is welcome. For more information 326-4405.
