We look forward to having Vietnam Vet and member of Veterans for Peace Dud Hendrick, who was operations director for the 1998 trip in Vietnam, to lead a discussion following the film.

Peninsula Peace & Justice to screen
Vietnam: Long Time Coming

BLUE HILL — Peninsula Peace & Justice will screen Vietnam: Long Time Coming on Friday, June 26 at the Blue Hill Public Library. This inspiring, informal documentary about a group bicycle trek from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City in 1998 will be screened in recognition of the 40th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War.

Organized by World T.E.A.M. Matters, this 16-day 1100-mile ride brought together disabled former enemies of the American and Vietnamese forces to reconcile and bond, challenging their physical limitations and healing emotional wounds. Passages through the beautiful and sometimes painfully familiar landscapes of Vietnam are detailed. Segments bring viewers into emotionally powerful confrontations with the riders’ reminders of traumatic past experiences and their aftermath in the peacetime lives of soldiers and civilians.

The film will be shown at Blue Hill Library, 7 p.m., Friday June 26. Free and open to the public. For more info: 326-4405.
