reminder:

Peninsula Peace & Justice invites the community to participate in the Iraq War Dead Memorial on Main Street in downtown Blue Hill, on Saturday June 20th at 10:00 a.m. (rain date Sunday June 21st at 12:00).

For the 11th successive year, this memorial will be established as a visible reminder of the ongoing human cost of war. White flags are planted to represent the lives lost in the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars, in Pakistan, and in other parts of the Middle East where U.S.-led interventions have claimed military and civilian lives. A sign in the field periodically updates the number of U.S. lives lost and acknowledges more than 1.5 million civilian deaths.

The Field of Flags is located on Main Street, between the Blue Hill Library and the Blue Hill Congregational Church, on property owned by the family of Rufus Wanning, a longtime supporter of area peace organizations. The event will take place on Saturday morning, June 20, from 10:00 to 12:00. Everyone is invited to participate in part or all of this action. For more information, contact 326-4405.
