Another view of the Kavanaugh busing to Portland

We owe it to the environment to reduce our driving as much as possible.  This is a non-question – stay as close to home as you can, and still create a visible presence.

I'll be driving to Bangor from Downeast (Ellsworth area;) call if you want to join me. (422-8259)

A friend who has been very active on this issue, and to whom I passed on the invitation below, sent me the comments of an activist from Bangor, who feels the bus from Bangor is a serious drain on an already-organized Bangor event. Seems to me she has a point:

"I hope you all will rally and support our local Bangor Unite For Justice/SaveSCOTUS Town Hall Event next Sunday, August 26th.
A large nationally affiliated group has decided to run a bus from Bangor to Portland with the intention of drawing our local community to Portland. I have requested that they do not run buses away from our already scheduled local Bangor, CD2 Unite For Justice event and my requests have been ignored. I hope you all will stand with us next Sunday, in our homegrown efforts to Say No To Kavanaugh. When we build our strength in numbers at home, we put CD2 Maine back at the state’s table and we create true and meaningful change at home. Our Maine Common Good Coalition events are about ensuring Mid and Northern Mainers’ voices are heard. And that’s how we get our candidates elected here too!!

"Rise with us next Sunday, August 26th at 2pm and show the Southern Maine folks that we have a MOVEMENT right here at home!

"Join us! "

On August 26th, we’re joining progressive allies and thousands of Americans to Unite for Justice and stop Brett Kavanaugh at events across all 50 states. #StopKavanaugh In Maine, Mainers for Accountable Leadership, Maine People's Alliance, Naral, Planned Parenthood Maine Action Fund and partners are united in opposition to Kavanaugh.
We’re in the fight of our lives to protect our most fundamental rights and freedoms. The confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh would put so much at stake, and we cannot back down.
Trump promised to only appoint SCOTUS justices who'll gut #RoevWadeand criminalize abortion. Kavanaugh represents a real threat to the reproductive rights of our people and a threat to those of us who not only rely on the ACA but rely on the protections the ACA provided for those with Pre-Existing conditions. 1 in 3 Mainers has a pre-existing condition. We cannot let our elected officials who work for us appoint an extreme conservative judge who will overturn the protections and rights we rely on.
We are focusing on the very real and very personal health care stories of our people. This event will be raw, real and full of radical truth telling as we remind our elected officials of the faces of the constituents whose lives are impacted by their vote.
There are *free* chartered coaches coming from Bangor, Rockland, Waterville/Augusta. Use the links below to reserve your spot.
