Pulitzer Prize Author/activist Chris Hedges to Speak In Blue Hill
On the eve of the release of his newest book, America:The Farewell Tour, Chris Hedges will speak at the Bagaduce Music Lending Library in Blue Hill at 7pm on Saturday, August 11th. The Library auditorium is at 49 South St., Blue Hill.
The Americans Who tell the Truth project is bringing Mr. Hedges to Blue Hill. Robert Shetterly, who painted Hedges’ portrait in 2009, will interview him about his new book and his past writing Chris Hedges is one of this country’s most outspoken and prominent critics of corporate, media and military power and how they have diminished both the reality and possibility of democracy. In his many books and his weekly column for Truthdig.com he has tried to alert Americans to the urgency of the damage being done to our political and environmental future by the elites.
Among Hedges’ many books are : War is a Force that Gives us Meaning; Empire of Illusion; Days of Destruction, Days of Revolt; Death of the Liberal Class; Losing Moses on the Freeway.
Chris Hedges’ appearance is being co-sponsored by Blue Hill Books (books will be available for signing), WERU, Reversing Falls Sanctuary, Peninsula Peace and Justice, Island Peace and Justice, Veterans for Peace, and Peninsula Indivisible.
The event is free and open to the public. Donations to Americans Who Tell the Truth will be accepted.
